Options or Alternatives are environments which have to be often employed to process an offer.
The term “Option” applies to a machine or an accessory which may in fact not be included by the customer in the supply agreement for two reasons: either the machinery or the basic equipment may operate also without the optional items, or the addition is considered a useful integration of the supply even when it is not included in the customer's request.
The term “Alternative” applies to a different offer than the standard quote because it is considered the most fitting engineering solution or represents the most competitive price.
Archymede can easily and effectively handle both cases.
We suggest to create separate environments for Options and Alternatives, in order to make the understanding easier both on the video and on the printed report.
The following step consists in defining the field “Item Type” (T) and its 3 options :

B = Standard item
O = Option
A = Alternative
The comprehension of the offer can be further simplified by entering the information related to the standard item into the item (I), Customer Reference (R.C.) and Diagram Reference (R.D.).
Each of these items will be dealt with separately by Archymede software. They will be described at the end of the report but will not be added to the total amount of the standard articles.
Thus, the quote will provide the customer both with the total price of the standard item quotation and the additional costs related to each of the suggested options and/or alternatives.
